To Give Thanks
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving.
That is almost unbelievable to me. It seems only yesterday we were looking forward to the promise of 2021, and now it is nearly time to ring in another new year. But before we do, let’s take a moment to be thankful for the blessings we’ve received this year.
I know that for many of us, 2021 has been a difficult year. The pandemic remains an ongoing battle. Many have lost loved ones. Heartache and distress surround us on every side. And yet, there are still reasons to be thankful.
My parents and I will be traveling to my aunt’s tomorrow to celebrate Thanksgiving with my mom’s extended family. We weren’t able to do that last year. I’m thankful for vaccinations that have made it possible to safely gather with loved ones again. I’m thankful my parents are in relatively good health and are able to make the journey. They are getting older and I’m grateful for every day I get to spend with them.
I’m thankful for good friends. Friendships are so important to one’s well-being and happiness. My friends and I have been through a lot of ups and downs together and I know that when the chips are down, I can always count on them to be there. We may not be related by blood, but they are family nonetheless.
I’m thankful for writing and the joy it’s brought into my life. I truly believe it’s the reason I was put on earth. Nothing gives me more satisfaction and fulfillment than finishing a story. It isn’t always easy, but it is always worth it. I’m so thankful God blessed me with the gift of story-telling.
Most of all, I’m thankful for YOU. This time last year, I was preparing to publish my first novel, The Piano Teacher. I was excited and filled with anticipation, but also a little apprehensive, because I didn’t know what sort of reception my work would receive. I could never have imagined that one year and two books later, I would have so many supporters, anxiously waiting for the next book.
I am thankful for each of you that have purchased my books and taken the time to read them. I’m grateful for your kind comments and reviews. To know that my work has touched someone or made their day a bit brighter makes it all worthwhile.
Wherever you are and however you choose to spend tomorrow, I hope that you are safe, happy, and well. I pray this will be the best Thanksgiving yet.
