Mother’s Day

I can hardly believe it's Mother's Day weekend already! Does anyone else feel as if the year is literally flying by, or is it just me?

How do you celebrate Mother's Day? It's usually a pretty quiet day for me--church and then lunch with my parents.

Words really can't describe how grateful I am for my mother. I know I've probably driven her crazy more than once over the years, but she's never given up on me. She's always loved and supported me. She's also been a wonderful example of a Godly woman. I can never repay her for all the sacrifices both she and my dad have made for me over the years.

I don't have kids, though I do have a fur baby :) During my 30s, I was always a little bummed when Mother's Day came around, because it was a reminder that I hadn't yet met "the one" or been able to start a family. Now that I've reached 40, I've come to terms with my status as a single woman. I understand that it's a part of God's plan for me, and even if that never changes, I'm ok with that.

If you are struggling this Mother's Day, please know that you're not alone. To all the women whose dreams for motherhood have yet to come true, you are not alone. To all the children whose mothers have passed on, you are not alone. And to those that have played a part in the nurturing of children in any way, regardless of your status as a mom--this day is for you.

Happy Mother's Day, everyone.
